R&D RUDIMENTERRE

We work tirelessly to bring the use of natural materials to the kitchen.

2015 - 2020, ceramic research and experimentation
Our historical research into the use of earthenware pots throughout the centuries and across countries, our experimental laboratories, and multiple comparative tests between the use of different clays in cooking allowed us to highlight the indisputable properties and culinary benefits of using a porous clay commonly known as earthenware.

April 2020, successful amendment of the standards and guidelines for utilitarian clay objects by the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec
In December 2019, while the standards and guidelines in effect in Quebec required us to fully glaze earthenware pieces, thereby depriving us of the benefits of its porosity, our work allowed us to support a request to amend the standards and guidelines for utilitarian clay objects with the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec.

In April 2020, we obtained an amendment to the standards and guidelines for utilitarian clay objects from the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec, henceforth authorizing us to leave surfaces not in direct contact with food unglazed.
A major step has been taken to allow us to reconnect with our environment.

November 2021, implementation of health and safety tools
Today, we are focusing our research on the development of health and safety tools. Ceramic production involves the repetition of movements that are difficult for the body. We are trying to find innovative manufacturing techniques and alternatives to improve our working conditions and thus ensure the sustainability of our production.
